Langtang Kyanjin Gompa Trek is located north of Kathmandu, in one of Nepal’s most beautiful and culturally rich valleys. The region showcases a fascinating blend of Tamang and Tibetan heritage, set against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks and glacial valleys. The trail passes through rhododendron forests, traditional villages, and scenic riverbanks, leading to the picturesque village of Kyanjin Gompa. Home to an ancient monastery and a yak cheese factory, Kyanjin Gompa is a serene alpine haven. This rewarding trek is ideal for those seeking a short yet immersive Himalayan experience, with breathtaking mountain views and warm local hospitality.
Itinerary
Start your journey with a scenic 7-hour drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi in a private 4WD. The route passes through Trishuli Bazar and terraced farmlands growing mustard, corn, and rice. Enjoy views of rivers, hills, and forests as you enter Langtang National Park.

Begin your trek through forests of oak, maple, and bamboo. Cross the Langtang Khola and watch for wildlife like red pandas, langur monkeys, and Himalayan black bears. The trek takes around 6 hours.
Overnight at Lama Hotel.
Continue ascending through dense forests with occasional glimpses of snow-capped peaks. You will pass a small army post and reach the quiet village of Mundu after about 6 hours of trekking.

Trek for about 4 hours as the forest opens into yak pastures and alpine landscapes. Arrive at the sacred village of Kyanjin Gompa, surrounded by dramatic Himalayan views. Take time to explore the monastery and local cheese factory.

Retrace your steps downhill from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel, taking in different views along the way. The descent takes about 6 hours.

Hike down through the peaceful forest trail back to Syabrubesi. This final trekking day takes approximately 6 hours. Celebrate the completion of your trek.

Conclude your adventure with a 7-hour drive back to Kathmandu in a private 4WD. Enjoy your final glimpses of the Himalayan hills and rural landscapes.
Trip ends upon arrival in Kathmandu.
